Normally, when I wake up in the mornings, I sit quietly in the living room and either knit or work on the day’s blog post. Sometimes there’s some scolding of the kittens, especially as they’re now waking me up at 4:45-5:00 a.m. in the morning. There is now an addition to my routine: listening to podcasts.

My New Wheel!
Let me introduce you to Herbert, my brand new spinning wheel. After months of completely subtle hints, my family pulled together and bought me my very first spinning wheel for my birthday a couple weeks ago.
Spinning, spinning, spinning
And no knitting. Well, that’s not completely true. I have been knitting during my lunch walks, but at home, it’s been nothing but spinning.
Lunch Break WIPs: Spin Me Right Round
I’ve been busy not knitting at lunch! It’s been quite nice, actually, even when I consider how close Christmas is (46 days, if you wanted to know). With all the projects that need to be completed and sent out by the end of this month, you’d think I would focus more.
Weekend Wrap-Up: Bit of Procrastination
I’m a great procrastinator, always have been. I’ve taken this talent to an art form. In college, I would calculate exactly how much time I’d need per assignment or paper, and then wait until I only had that much time left before starting. Talk about a rush! Well, it would seem this is following me into my knitting now.
Knitting Conundrum: To Spin or Not to Spin
I’ve been saving up for something for a while now, and I soon might be able to get it.. There’s one big item that I’ve been dreaming about since I was little. That one item I coveted since the stories of Sleeping Beauty and Rumpelstiltskin. But! I need some advice.
Here’s where you guys come in, should you be keen:
Should I get a spinning wheel? What type/brand should I be looking at?
Catching up on WIPs
My husband and I had a completely lazy weekend. After the week I had, I needed it. We stayed up late watching reruns of Eureka and slept in late in the mornings. I feel completely relaxed, even with the drive to Austin I’m about to make. It was amazing.
On a lighter note: Spinning Forward
I’ve been contemplating how much fun it would be to have a spinning wheel at our house. To be completely honest, my fascination with spinning wheels started when I was a little girl and I read about Rumpelstiltskin spinning straw into gold. I wondered if it could really be done. Obviously it can’t, but just as magical is watching roving being spun into gorgeous yarn.
Adding to the Stash: Some more gorgeous roving
When I saw this roving on Three Waters Farm’s Etsy shop, I thought, I’d really like this. So, I favorited it. Easy. Well, every time after that when I would see it, I wanted it more and more. I can’t tell you how beautiful it looked! It was just, oh my. I was in want really bad.
WIP: Heavenly Squishiness Hand Spinning
I said yesterday I refrained from spinning at work because all had righted itself in my office, at least for me. Well, that didn’t last. The righted lasted; I mean the not spinning at work. I totally did pull out the roving and spin a bit during my lunch break.
