FO: The French Maid Minion!

Le minion!

Complete and delivered! I’m so thrilled with how he turned out!

The minion was a big hit on Easter Sunday! He was Ken and my birthday present for mom. My brothers decided it would be best to pair him with a Despicable Me popcorn bucket from Hollywood Theater. Turned out, the little guy fit perfectly!

It’s good to have another project wrapped up and done, although I tried to cast on a new project again yesterday. I was stressed out, and I’ve found that when I am feeling a little stress, I want to cast something new on. I don’t want to work on any projects I have going. It has to be completely new. I talked myself out of it in the end. I have way too many things going on right now as it is.

1. Spinning Sea Foam Fiber

2. Socks for dad (Ken’s are now done!)

3. Ken’s sweater

4. Spinning Merino/Bamboo/Silk Blend Fiber

5. Hexipuffs (the eternal project)

6. Test knit hat due on the 17th

7. Linen Stitch Scarf

I think that’s a bit much! Ken’s sweater is on temporary pause. I messed up on it a few weeks ago but didn’t write down what happened. I’m probably going to have to undo the row I’m on and start again. Dad’s socks are reaching the halfway point. I started on Monday and for some reason kept working on them when I got home (they’re supposed to be my lunch and walk home socks), so I’m at the leg now. I finally got some more spinning done last night on the sea foam fiber. I love it. I’ve found spinning really has become my ultimate de-stresser.

Add on top of that the complete excitement about DFW Fiber Fest on Saturday! There are now only 3 days left! I can’t wait. This is going to be so much fun. I’ve saved up some money so I can go a little crazy, but hopefully not too crazy. I know what I want. I want some sock yarn and some spinning fiber. Ken thinks I should look at spinning wheels while we’re there, but I don’t think he knows quite how much those cost. I want one really badly, but we’ve got some major items we’re saving up for right now that take precedence. Plus, I’m quite happy with my spindles.

I hate to wish my life away, but I can’t wait until Saturday!

Happy Wednesday! What projects are you working on?

  1. Doesn’t it feel great to have another project finished? I have two in the works right now, but know that there are other things I really should be doing, like working on that graduation display. Ugh!

  2. I love, love, love the minion. I also am in the same boat with projects. So many to do, but I am stressed about other things so I want to work on something new. I am trying to discipline myself into finishing some of the old first.

  3. Your FO is gorgeous! Congratulations. I completely understand the dilemma about casting on & finishing projects. I sometimes hibernate things on Ravelry so I don’t feel I have too many things on the go!

  4. It’s so adorable!

I finally finished Emilien and I’m working on Clapotis and a pair of socks. And I have some yarn waiting for a shawl.

I also found out that spinning is very de-stressing 🙂

  5. I have my Temperature scarf which is only two rows a day. Socks on one circular, because I wanted to learn a new technique. Baby blanket. But I have a cardigan for me in the planning stages and need to swatch. Always exciting!

  6. That is really cute. I too have several projects on the go at a time -currently Alan Dart’s fairy godmother, a baby hat for charity, a finished doll that just needs hair and clothes and am considering what’s next to add since I just finished a summer top! LOL 🙂

  7. Love the minion, he’s super cute. 🙂 I’m working on a sweater for my 26 year old son. It was supposed be for last winter, but I didn’t quite get there with it – hopefully this winter ( I’m in Australia so we are just going into winter). I only have 1 sleeve to finish and the collar. For some reason I’m struggling to get through it, I think it’s because it’s a much bigger project than I have worked on for many years & I had forgotten just how much work there is in a mens sweater.
