What a week! I can honestly say, I’m ready for a break. Thank goodness it’s Friday!
The picture above is of the Vite Cowl by Kristi Johnson. I had bought some super bulky yarn for a project that turned out to be mislabeled. The project should have been in bulky, which I did go back and adjust. By then, though, I’d unwound one of the skeins, so it couldn’t go back. Why not just find a project for it?
I used Lion Brand’s Hometown USA Solid for this cowl. I’d tell you what colorway, but a couple of furry troublemakers took off with the label. I haven’t seen it since. It’s kind o f a dark orange. I absolutely love how soft the cowl turned out. Unfortunately, the weather for this has left, and it doesn’t look like it’s coming back anytime soon, so this got put in storage almost immediately.
The pattern was very easy to follow. I do wish there had been some more guidelines on how many repeats to do to get various lengths. I did about 4 repeats before binding off and sewing things together. I’m not happy about the seam, but I never am. Super Bulky, I’ve found, just seems to make the seam stick out more. It’s probably my bad seaming skills. This is why I prefer knitting in the round whenever I can. Otherwise, though, I loved the pattern!
It’s kind of been a long week. I made it through Tuesday emotionally, but ended up staying home with a fever anyway. Nice timing! I felt so sick I didn’t knit at all on Tuesday. I kind of just hung out in bed with the kittens.
The mermaid and Super Why move out today! They’re actually already at the office waiting to be dropped off this afternoon. I’ll be able to post pictures of them soon. I can’t wait! The mermaid is my favourite of the two. Super Why gave me issues here and there, but overall I’m happy with him, too.
The DFW Fiber Fest is officially two weeks away! I can’t wait! I’ve been scrimping and saving so that I can have a fun time. I’m not signed up for classes, but I do intend to check out the vendor hall. Last year was just too much fun. I’m really looking forward to this, and have even talked my mom into going with me. Anyone else going to DFW Fiber Fest this year?
Well, I hope you have a wonderful weekend! Tomorrow I’m off with my husband and maybe a couple friends to see the play 39 Steps at a local theatre. It was one of our favorite plays in London, so I’m looking forward to seeing it again.
Right there with you sister! And love the cowl! Enjoy your weekend. 😉
I hope you feel much better. And the cowl is lovely. I’m a fan of Lion Brand’s Vanna yarn collection and their Wool-ease.
Lovely cowl, I love the warm colour too!
Ooh 39 steps, great play, hope you enjoy it!
We are going to my in-laws in the country for the weekend, also I’ll be taking part in the AGM of the mother and baby group I go to.
I have some Hometown in my stash to use- I think I’ll cast on. Thanks!
I’ve made this cowl twice – once for myself, and once for my mom. Easy pattern with a beautiful finished piece!
I’ve been eyeing the Lion Brand Hometown USA, I’m glad to see how nicely it knits up, with of course the best part being that it’s soft too!
Love Fridays!! And what a great cowl I wish I could have the patience to make one myself. Perhaps I’ll ask a few friends… 🙂
The nice thing is it’s super bulky, so it whips up really quickly! 🙂
What a beautiful cowl! I’ll need to put it on my to do list. 🙂
There will be several of us from the Waco Knitters group. Hope to meet you!

That’s be great! I think we’re going early Saturday.
I can’t wait to learn how to knit! It’s so cool looking! 🙂
It’s a lot of fun!
Hey! I’ve made this one twice too! And my mom has made it also! We love the pattern. Yours is so pretty!
I hope you are feeling better. Enjoy your weekend!
Love that color! I’m ready for the weekend too. Even though the last few weeks seem jumbled together, the weekend always brings a certain feel with it.
I hope you get well soon. Lovely cowl!
It’s gorgeous! Love the colour. My furry babies love playing with the labels too, I’m always finding them in strange places.
Let me know if you figure out the seam fix or find a good tutorial. I’ve had the same problem.
